Housed in a secure bunker, deep beneath the Presidential Complex in Ankara is the top secret special operations command and control centre known as the C41 Bunker.

The 145 screen visual command center is said to collect data from many different sources including UAV’s, CCTV and 3G and 4G transmissions across the entire 81 provinces in Turkey.

Live feeds to the Presidential Command Centre come from both the Turkish Armed Forces and National Intelligence Organisation.

The Bunker also monitors presidential movements on both land and in the air and is protected from nuclear and chemical attacks.

Two special super-computer servers allow for secure data storage and individuals can be tracked by biometrics and 3D images uploaded to the system.

Known for their slightly heavy handed approach on both official visits and protests overseas, President Erdrogan’s personal protection and non-personal bodygaurds are responsible for multiple layers of security.

Originally part of the Presidential Guard Regiment, they wore Turquoise and white ceremonial uniforms and more custom western suits when travelling abroad on official business.

During the failed coup, many members of the presidential guard regiment were deemed to be involved and the guard was completely disbended.

In more recent news, the presidential bodygaurds have been involved in an incident with Kurdish protestors in Washington D.C. leading to 15 being indicted, before charges were later droped.

On the othe rhand, they have also been photographed helping people, with a photo showing them talking a man out of a suicide attempt on a bridge and its reported that the president also helped during the negotiations.

President Erdrogan’s custom Boeing 747-81 is a lap of luxury compared to some of the world leaders planes and was a gift from the Emir of Qatar.

Costing around $500 million dollars, the Custom Boeing 747-81 has been described as one of the largest and most expensive private jets in the world.

Re-fitted to cary 76 passengers, rather than the usual 400, it has features including staterooms, lounges, boardrooms, first class seating areas and its own hospital.

After recieving a paint lift to the livery, the planes latest journey is expected to be to the United States, an trip that the president accepted from the U.S.A in October 2019.


7 – Gulfstream 4 Presidential Jet

The second and more personal private jet of Turkey’s President Erdrogan, his Gulfstream Presidential Jet has taken him to many places including Russia and China.

Used before he recieved his other plane, the custom Boaing 747-8i we mentioned previously, his Gulfstream 4 has a top speed of 935 miles per hour and a cruising speed of 850km/h.

Costing around $41 million dollars, he has private pilots, on-board chefs and food tasters as well as areas to relax, sleep and work.

The jet has previously disguised itself as a civilian aircraft, allowing it to vanish from the radar of enemy fighter jets during an attempted coup early in 2019.

The presidential pilots switched their radio transponder to match that of a Turkish Airlines passenger jet, allowing the jet to blend in with civilian traffic, undoubtably saving the presidents life.


6 – Presidential Complex

Located in the heart of the capital Ankara, the presidential complex is also the presidential residence and prime-ministerial compound.

The complex was initially denied for construction by the courts, however its proceeded ahead un-hindered and was reported to have cost $600 million dollars.

The first head of state to visit the new compound was Pope Francis and a visit from Vladimir Putin was also conducted with a welcoming ceremony taking place in front of the new palace.

The complex was reported to have been bombed during the coup against the president and is protected by multiple layers of security.

Consisting of the main building and two support buildings that are used for meetings, the whole building covers roughly 3.3 million square feet and has at least 1,150 rooms.

Construction of a new residence for the presidents family with an estimated two hundred and fifty rooms, a 4000-person capacity mosque and a culture centre were completed in 2020.

A laboratory to detect nucleur, biological and chemical hazards is also thought to be included in the underground areas, seperate to the below ground areas we mentioned earlier.

Turkey’s version of the CIA, The National Intellegence Organisation or MIT as it is known in the country, was established in 1965 and was created to replace the national security service.

Operations are classified in all aspects of the organisation and it regularly co-operates with both the central intelligence agency and the intellegence agencies of Russia.

As well as protecting the president and prime minister of Turkey, the National Intellegence Organisation opperates in many different countries and carries out activities such as wire-tapping, intellegence reports and spying, most of which is done on terrorist organisations.

The intellegence also covers direct threats to the president when he is at home or abroad.

As you would expect, the windows are bullteproof and other features include a luxury bathroom and bedroom, while there is space below for a large amount of luggage and even a reported safe room.


2 – General Directorate of Security

The civilian police force in the counrty, the General Directorate of Security is completely responsible for law enforcement in Turkey.

The force is often called upon for presidential events including rallies, state events and elections.

Organised into two branches, the central organisation and provincial organisation, it has over 834 police stations in 81 provinces.

The force has access to a vast array of upgraded equipment including Audi A3 cars, bell 406 and 419 helicopters and some officers are armed with mp5 submachine guns.

The Turkish Armed Forces is the second largest standing military force in NATO having an active strength of around 400,000 active personnel.

Despite being designed to protect the government of Turkey at all costs, a few rogue factions of the Turkish Armed forces did attempt a take-over of the government.

The coup ultimately failed, and thousands of military personnel were arrested and the entire military structure underwent a complete overhaul.
