Born on 28 June 1968 in Walthamstow, Adam Woodyatt grew up in East London and attended two schools in the area including Forest School in Epping Forest and Sylvia Young Theatre School.

He regularly shared classes with comedy writer Sharat Sardana and cricket captain Nasser Hussain and after completing studies at theatre school, he appeared in the BBC childrens drama The Baker Street Boys.

He also attended Llanidloes High School, Llanidloes which is an 11-18 year old comprehensive school located in Powys, Mid Wales.


CAREER

Following a succesfull education and appearances in the BBC television series The Baker Street Boys, Adam Woodyatt put his acting career on hold while he worked for a brief time as a butcher in Wales.

After this he joined the BBC soap Eastenders and did not expect to stay with the company beyond the year, later becoming not only the first character to stay with the show since the first episode but also the longest serving male cast member in the show.

Adam Woodyatt received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his portrayal of Ian Beale and is one of only four original cast members still appearing in the show.

Outside Eastenders, Woodyatt has appeared in several shows including A Question of Sport and Robot Wars while also often appearing on BBC Children In Need.

He has appeared in several pantomines including the as the Wicked Queen in a pantomime production of Snow White at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre.

He appeared in Celebrity Masterchef in 2019 and in 2020 it was announced that he would be taking an extended break from Eastenders.


FAMILY

Woodyatt married dancer Beverley Sharp in a private ceremony at Disney World, Florida on the 8th April 1998 and they have two children together, however Woodyatt split from Sharp in 2020 after twenty years of marriage.

Woodyatt’s father passed away from cancer at the age of 58 and has helped raise money for various cancer research initiatives.

He is a known supporter of Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and an Ambassador for the Children’s Air Ambulance.

He is a keen runner and has been involved with running the London Mansion in aid of several Dementia charities for his friend Barbra Windsor.

He often enjoys a low-carb diet plan and has revealed how keeping up with time in the Gym has kept him in great shape over the years.

He often enjoys a holiday away in the sun and has been spotted in Estepona on the Costa del Sol with friend Paul Chuckle.
