Born in Sheffield on 28 January 1986, Jessica Ennis-Hill was introduced to athletics by her parents when they took her to Start Track event at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium during the 1996 school summer holidays.
Not only did she win her first athletics prize there, she also met Toni Minichiello, the man who was to become her coach.
Jessica Ennis-Hill joined the City of Sheffield and Dearne Athletic Club in 1997 and In November 2000, aged 14, she won the Sheffield Federation for School Sports Whitham Award.
Jessica Ennis-Hill attended Sharrow Primary School and King Ecgbert School in Dore, where she did her GCSEs and stayed on in the sixth form to gain three A-Levels.

In 2011 during the annual International’s in Glasgow, Ennis won the 60 metres hurdles in a time of 7.97 seconds, she also achieved her second world title in this year.
In August 2012, Ennis won the gold medal in the heptathlon at the London Olympics with a British and Commonwealth record score of 6,955 points.
While 2013 and 2014 saw her struggle with Injury, 2015 saw her make an incredible comeback with her winning her third world title.
Unfortunately, injury kept Ennis-Hill out of the 2016 indoor season but she managed to win Silver at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
On 13 October 2016, Ennis-Hill announced her retirement from athletics, later being appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
Ennis’s father, Vinnie Ennis, is a Jamaican self-employed painter and decorator who took up some early sprinting work, while her mother, Alison Powell is an English Social worker from Derbyshire.
She married Andy Hill in Derbyshire in May 2013 and announced on the 10th January 2014 that she was pregnant with their first child, later giving birth to her son Reggie in July 2014.
On 16 March 2017, Ennis-Hill announced she was pregnant for a second time and on the 23rd September 2017, gave birth to the couples daughter, Olivia.
